Anesthesiology Residency Application Process

The Anesthesiology Residency program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is a four-year program comprised of an intern year, which we oversee, followed by three years in anesthesiology training. We offer 14 categorical positions each year.

How to apply to Wake Forest for the 2025-2026 Anesthesiology application cycle

Applications are accepted through ERAS by November 1. No supplemental materials are required.

Wake Forest Anesthesiology is participating in program signaling through ERAS. Signaled applications will take priority for holistic review.

New this year, we will be trialing a hybrid recruitment format! All interviews will be conducted virtually via the Thalamus platform. At the end of each month, every interviewed candidate will be invited to an in-person event to meet our residents and faculty and learn more about our program, institution, and city in a face-to-face setting.

Candidates need to provide the following documentation prior to application review:

  • Completed ERAS application
  • USMLE Step I and II OR COMLEX Level 1 and 2 score reports
  • MSPE
  • Medical School Transcript
  • ECFMG Certificate (Foreign Medical School graduates only)
  • Personal statement
  • Minimum of three letters of recommendation
  • Current photograph
  • CentralApp supplemental application
