Residents who complete the Internal Medicine training program at Wake Forest are highly competitive for fellowships all across the country at some of the most prestigious programs. They are well prepared to enter any sub-specialty program as well as embarking on a career as a general internist or hospitalist. Historically, about 40% of residents pursuing subspecialty training after residency have chosen to stay at Wake Forest for fellowship, which speaks to both the strong fellowship programs at Wake Forest and the strong relationships formed between residents and subspecialty mentors during residency training.
