The Department of Pathology at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, including the Section of Comparative Medicine, is committed to excellence and innovation through clinical, translational, and basic science research.
Our Comparative Medicine section distinguishes us from most other pathology departments by enabling cutting-edge research and scientific discovery and enhancing the translational potential of our investigations. This unique focus continues to elevate the quality of research we undertake and supports groundbreaking contributions to the field.
In addition to our commitment to research, we are proud to be part of Advocate Health—a newly established learning healthcare system formed through the merger of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist with Advocate Aurora Health. Advocate Health will redefine the standards of patient care through a collaborative approach focused on innovation, education, and continuous improvement. This partnership strengthens our mission to provide superior diagnostic care, clinical laboratory services, and consultative expertise, ultimately enhancing outcomes for patients and our community.
Our department serves Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist-affiliated hospitals, including Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Davie Medical Center, High Point Medical Center, Lexington Medical Center, and Wilkes Medical Center, alongside numerous outpatient locations within the Piedmont Triad region in Northwest North Carolina.
Our faculty and staff are dedicated to serving the region by delivering exceptional clinical services and advancing the frontiers of medicine. We are devoted to educating the next generation of healthcare providers and investigators while fostering an environment of inquiry and discovery among faculty and trainees. Through our collective efforts, we aim to position the Department of Pathology as a national leader in clinical services, groundbreaking research, and impactful educational programs.
