Course Description
The student will rotate through surgical pathology, hematopathology, cytology, and autopsy services for one week each. Instruction will be given in the handling of surgical, cytology, various hematopathology-related specimens, their preparation for histological review of the varied cases, grossly and microscopically, emphasizing clinical-pathological correlation.
Individuals will understand the principles involved in measuring DNA, polymerase chain reaction, DNA sequencing, and array CGH and, where applicable, correlation with clinical and other laboratory data, how laboratory resources can be used to improve patient care, and the importance of team work in modern medical care.
