Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program

A one-year program covering the spectrum of community and university sports medicine, occupational medicine, cardiac rehabilitation and fitness.

The Wake Forest School of Medicine Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship offers an intense year in sports medicine to prepare for a clinical or academic career, covering the spectrum of:

Sports ultrasound	Community and university sports medicine
Orthopedic and medical conditions in athletes	Child, adolescent and adult populations
Procedural skills	Community wellness.
Personal and team physical fitness	Event coverage
Occupational medicine

Program Goals

The goals of the Primary Sports Medicine Fellowship are:

To provide a model of a sports medicine practice in a primary care setting that allows top quality resident and fellow, orthopedic and sports medicine education
To increase the number of primary care physicians practicing sports medicine in western North Carolina and across the country
To provide training that would prepare the graduate for the Certificate of Additional Qualifications in Sports Medicine
Allow a graduate to successfully practice in a variety of practices and settings, both now and in the future
