Biomedical areas of concentration may be paired with any degree offered by WFU Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. Areas of concentration have a defined set of coursework and will appear on the student’s transcript. 

A student may also work with their academic advisor to select coursework in an area of specialization or study, but these areas do not have defined coursework and therefore will not appear on a student’s transcript.

Areas of Concentration

Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention Concentration
The Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention concentration provides the knowledge base to apply epidemiological principles and determine appropriate antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention measures to reduce the occurrence of healthcare-associated infections and the spread of communicable diseases.

Cancer Biology Concentration
The Cancer Biology concentration will cover the topics in cancer research outlined by the Cancer Biology Training Consortium (CABTRAC) as being essential for students pursuing graduate degrees in cancer research.

Integrative Physiology and Pharmacology Concentration
Integrated course of study under the direction of the Integrative Physiology and Pharmacology (IPP) Graduate Program.

Neuroscience Concentration
Our Neuroscience training program is based on the belief that neuroscience broadly conceived provides a fundamental framework for understanding the biological basis of behavior and is critical for revealing the causes of neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Regenerative Medicine Concentration
Regenerative Medicine is a highly interdisciplinary field which aims to repair diseased or damaged tissues using biological, engineering, and cell-based approaches and technologies.
