The Department of Neurosurgery at Wake Forest School of Medicine is dedicated to training neurosurgeons through our residency, spine fellowship and clerkship programs. The residency program offers training in many subspecialties, and the fourth year is dedicated to research. Residents of all years have multiple opportunities to participate in clinical and basic science research.

The Department of Neurosurgery has an active basic science and clinical research program that encompasses studies in:
- Neuronal plasticity in trauma, stroke and epilepsy

The StrokeNET fellowship is funded by the NINDS and supports the development of clinical trial expertise in hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke.
