The StrokeNet Fellow Award provides 1 year of support for early-career individuals dedicated to clinical trials research in all aspects of stroke care through the National Institutes of Health. This fellowship will build clinical and translational research skills and competencies under the guidance of the StrokeNet Executive Leadership team to develop expertise in clinical. Fellows will receive up to $50,000/year to support educational, time and other research needs.

The NIH has created the NIH StrokeNet to conduct clinical trials and research studies to advance acute stroke treatment, stroke prevention, and recovery and rehabilitation following a stroke. This network of regional centers across the U.S., which involve more than 400 hospitals, is designed to serve as the infrastructure and pipeline for exciting new potential treatments for patients with stroke and those at risk for stroke. In addition, NIH StrokeNet provides an educational platform for stroke physicians and clinical trial coordinators to build the next generation of stroke researchers to drive innovation in our field.

The Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist serves as a Regional Coordinating Center responsible for the guidance and leadership of more than six regional satellite sites collectively known as Wake Forest StrokeNet.
