The StrokeNet Fellow Award provides 1 years of support for early-career research faculty from the Department of Neurology and the National Institutes of Health to build clinical and translational research skills and competencies under the guidance of the StrokeNet Executive Leadership team, for Phase 2 or Phase 3 trials. Fellows will receive up to $50,000/year to support educational, time and other research needs.
The NIH has created the NIH StrokeNet to conduct small and large clinical trials and research studies to advance acute stroke treatment, stroke prevention, and recovery and rehabilitation following a stroke. This network of 29 regional centers across the U.S., which involves more than 400 hospitals, is designed to serve as the infrastructure and pipeline for exciting new potential treatments for patients with stroke and those at risk for stroke. In addition, NIH StrokeNet will provide an educational platform for stroke physicians and clinical trial coordinators.
The Department of Neurology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist serves as a Regional Coordinating Center responsible for the guidance and leadership of more than six regional satellite sites collectively known as Wake Forest StrokeNet.
