The Section on Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is centered in a 65-bed predominantly single-family room Level IV Dale and Karen Sisel Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Winston-Salem.

Our section includes 15 neonatologists, an assistant professor specializing in family mental health, and six fellows in neonatal-perinatal medicine who work closely with our advanced practice providers to deliver the highest caliber of care in The Birth Center and the NICU.

The section’s NICU Follow Up Clinic provides follow-up care for high-risk newborns. The clinic is a multidisciplinary program that offers medical and developmental services to our NICU patients from discharge to 18 months of age. All fellows participate in the clinic's activities and benefit from exposure to a wide range of medical and developmental challenges that NICU graduates can experience. Learn more about our NICU follow up clinic.
