Why Wake Forest?

At Wake Forest, our mission is to train the next generation of exceptional pediatric gastroenterologists. We understand that each trainee is unique, which is why training is individualized (aside from core requirements/competencies) and mentorship starts in the first year.  While rigorous clinical and endoscopic training are essential to gastroenterology training, we are committed to ensuring the emotional wellbeing of our fellows.

Our fellows will primarily train at Brenner Children’s Hospital, is a 155-bed  “hospital within a hospital” and the only children’s hospital in northwest North Carolina. The hospital features a  Level 1 pediatric trauma center, and a newly renovated level IV NICU.  The pediatric GI section operates a busy ambulatory program, managing over 10,000 outpatient visits annually and performing approximately 1,200 endoscopic procedures each year.
