Postdoctoral position in the area of mitochondria, Alzheimer’s disease, and aging

We are looking for highly motivated and career-oriented postdoctoral fellows (research individuals) to join the Jadiya lab in the Section of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine at Wake Forest School of Medicine Winston-Salem NC. We offer multifaceted scientific projects centered on mitochondrial biology and its role in aging and neurodegeneration, specifically Alzheimer’s disease. We have long-term funding and a well-defined mentoring plan. The position is available with NIH funding for immediate occupancy for a 1–4-year appointment, contingent on background experience and performance. Requirements

The qualified candidate must possess a Ph.D. in neuroscience, molecular biology, physiology, or a similar field. Prior experience in one of the following areas is not mandatory but preferred: mitochondrial biology, mouse models of disease, metabolism, calcium signaling, cell death regulation, Alzheimer’s disease, or neuronal physiology. Must be a self-motivated, team-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.


Lab Technician

We are looking for a talented Lab Technician to join the Jadiya lab in the Section of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine Winston-Salem NC. Recent science graduates and soon-to-be graduates with 0-1 years of experience with molecular biology techniques are encouraged to apply.

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing routine lab assays such as qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, cell culture, animal handling, biochemistry, and genotyping. The laboratory technician is expected to perform laboratory support functions to help ensure the lab is operational; contribute to the overall operations and maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
