In September 2022, the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity hosted Raising the Bar for Black Men’s Health and Wellness: A Men’s Prayer Breakfast and Health Symposium. This event took place at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church in Winston Salem, NC. The keynote address was delivered by Robert Turner II, PhD, from the Department of Clinical Research and Leadership at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Science. Attendees also engaged in a panel discussion with Christopher Edwards, PhD, North Carolina Central University, A. William Blackstock, MD, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and Elijah Beaty, MD, Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
