The Office of Pathway Programs (OPP) at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is dedicated to helping students discover their unique paths into healthcare and research. We aim to guide and support learners as they explore career opportunities, build strong character, develop leadership skills, and flourish personally and academically. By working closely with families, educators, and partners, we aspire to create meaningful experiences that prepare all students to thrive and make a lasting impact in the world of health and science.

Programming includes K-12 STEM Pathway Programs, Health Professions Exposure Programs, and Undergraduate Clinical and Research Experiences. Our mission is to create opportunities through innovative programs, mentorship, and partnerships that empower all learners to thrive and make meaningful contributions to their fields and communities.

Building a foundation of Character, Leadership, and Flourishing

Collaborating closely with program leaders, facilitators and instructors, the Office of Pathway Programs endeavors to develop courses and instructional materials grounded in best practices and evidence-based pedagogy. OPP emphasizes the foundational concepts of Character, Leadership, and Flourishing and believe that by integrating these essential skills into every Wake Forest University School of Medicine pathway program, we empower students to cultivate strong character traits, develop effective leadership abilities, and build resilience as they prepare for careers in healthcare. This holistic approach ensures that learners not only acquire academic and clinical knowledge but also grow personally and professionally, equipping them to thrive in dynamic and challenging environments.
