CALIBIR Summer Research Internship

The Wake Forest Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Wake Forest Department of Biomedical Engineering at Wake Forest University School of Medicine offer a summer research internship program to undergraduate and master's students. The program is funded by an NIH R25 award: Culturally Augmented Learning in Biomedical Informatics Research (CALIBIR). If you'd like to learn more about the CALIBIR program, we recommend checking out the NIH summary found here.

Students selected for this program will receive hourly pay and on-campus housing. This 10-week research internship program will be offered between May 26 to August 1, 2025.

Research Project Highlights:

  • Advanced Imaging and Diagnostics: Biomedical imaging for brain tumors, maternal health, and retinal analysis
  • Machine Learning and AI Applications: Language models for genomic data, explainable AI for ECG, and AI-driven clinical decision support
  • Healthcare Innovation: Predictive modeling for disease progression, resistance to infections, and patient mobility analysis
  • Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, and Analytics: Longitudinal and harmonized data repositories, genetic architecture studies, and nonignorable missing data analysis
  • Public Health and Personalized Medicine: Admixture mapping in tanning response genes, autism health profiles, and interventions for colorectal cancer prognosis

By joining CALIBIR, you will gain valuable experience in translational AI and biomedical informatics research and contribute to innovative healthcare solutions!
