Meet Lauren Eyadiel, PA-C '16
From: Wilson, NC
Education and Work:
- UNC 2009: BA in Communication Studies, Speech and Hearing Sciences
- James Madison University 2011: MS in Speech-language Pathology (SLP)
- Three years as an SLP at VCU Medical Center in Internal Medicine and Critical Care
- Attended WFUSOM PA Studies: Class of 2016
- One year in Pulmonary Medicine/Critical Care before transitioning to Advanced Heart Failure, Heart Transplant in 2018
A Little About Lauren: I work as a PA in Advanced Heart Failure, Heart Transplant and gravitated towards that field as my grandfather suffered and ultimately died from advanced heart failure. I am a board member of the Academy of Physician Associates in Cardiology, sit on the membership committee for the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA), participate in a focus group with HFSA for development of a mentorship program, and am the course director for a novel training program called "Acute Heart Failure Advanced Life Support," which is an interactive, simulation based course focusing on management of acute heart failure and the first of its kind in the US (which I will continue as my scholarship time).
I am passionate about PAs in leadership and advocacy for the profession. I am married to the best dude that has ever walked the earth (he is really a saint), Cyril Eyadiel. He is a family medicine physician at WFBH. I am mom to two human boys (Luke - 3yo, Levi - 9mo) and one 4-legged dude (Boomer - 6yo). Due to being completely outnumbered by all the dudes in my life, I never stop moving and am chasing one thing or another - most of the time, our dog, Boomer who greatly resents the fact that we had human children and makes Marley look well behaved. We enjoy spending time in our little slice of heaven in WS, traveling (especially to Boone! Can you say Appalachia Cookie Company) and being eternally grateful for the extra magical movie player in the minivan which makes road trips possible.
