The Neurology Department at Wake Forest School of Medicine offers a variety of new and innovative research and clinical trials that focus on areas such as:
ALS Research
ALS research at Wake Forest is divided into two equal parts that work together to test promising therapies and develop new ideas about the cause of ALS, which can generate novel treatments.

Epilepsy Research
Researchers at Wake Forest School of Medicine are studying the impact of epilepsy on attention, memory, learning and behavior in children as well as the relationships between head injuries and seizures and between brain damage and the length, outcome and treatment of epilepsy.

HIRREM Research
We are also conducting research with High-resolution, relational, resonance-based, electroencephalic mirroring (HIRREM®). This is a novel, noninvasive, closed-loop, electroencephalic-based feedback technology to facilitate relaxation, auto-calibration and self-optimization of neural oscillations by using auditory tones to reflect dominant brain frequencies in near real time.
