Annual Research Conference

“Why XX Matters: Focus on Cancer and Regenerative Medicine”

One of the missions of Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) is to develop and implement programs to promote women’s health and sex differences research. Women’s Health Research Day is one of the ways we achieve this mission by showcasing the achievements of investigators in the topic area. This year the focus is on healthy brain function which governs human behavior and executive function throughout the lifespan. Conversely, cognitive dysfunction is debilitating in neurodegenerative diseases, and mental health and substance use disorders, as well as untoward effect of radiation and drug therapies. A greater appreciation of gender differences in mental health and disease will make it possible to develop personalized pharmacotherapies and palliative treatments that take into account the influence of sex.

Audience

Women’s Health Research Day is open to everyone both internally to Wake Forest Baptist Health and externally: all faculty, students, staff, nurses, post-docs, residents, and fellows. There is no fee, but registration is required.
