About Me
I am a cell and molecular biologist with vast experience in growth factor research and cell signaling pathways, in regards to skeletal muscle biology, physiology and regeneration. My specific interests are in exploring the cellular and micro-environmental “cues” that regulate skeletal muscle regeneration after injury and are differentially expressed due to age and gender, in order to develop novel therapies for the restoration of muscle function in the aged population.
My current research interests focus on identifying novel therapies to aid skeletal muscle regeneration after acute and chronic injuries. I have developed a novel rodent model of compartment syndrome that has led to several discoveries related to the pathogenesis of muscle injury and consequent regeneration capacity. I am also interested in aging and sex differences in the regenerative process.
