Welcome to the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Psychiatry Residency Program. We are proud to train residents within a growing academic medical center known for exceptional, patient centered care and nationally recognized clinical research. Our mission is to support residents during the most formative years of their careers, providing the mentorship, structure, and opportunities needed to develop into thoughtful, skilled, and confident psychiatrists.
Our faculty bring diverse expertise across the full spectrum of psychiatry and are deeply committed to resident education. Residents care for an exceptionally diverse and high complexity patient population. As the only academic medical center in western North Carolina, Wake Forest serves a large regional catchment area. Multiple smaller hospitals across the health system transfer their most complex psychiatric and medical cases to our main campus, giving residents extensive exposure to high acuity scenarios and rich interdisciplinary collaboration. This depth and breadth of clinical experience prepare graduates to excel in any setting.
Our academic environment is equally robust. Residents have abundant opportunities to partner with faculty on research, quality improvement, and scholarly projects. Because of the strong clinical training and scholarly support offered here, our graduates are highly competitive for subspecialty fellowships, academic medicine positions, and community practice.
Resident wellness is central to our program’s culture. About me

This is my seventh year of being faculty at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. I have focused my career on clinical work in consultation- liaison psychiatry and residency and medical student education. I am double board certified in consultation- liaison psychiatry and general psychiatry. My primary clinical activities include general hospital psychiatry consultation where I have an expertise in the evaluation and management of psychiatric presentations in the medically ill. I supervise trainees at all levels that rotate through the psychiatry consultation service. My academic interests are in the integration of medical and psychiatric illness, psychopharmacology, ethical issues in medicine and medical education. In my free time, I enjoy hiking around the area. |
