Meet Our People
Residency Program Director
This is my fifth year of being faculty at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. I have focused my career on clinical work in consultation-liaison psychiatry and residency and medical student education. I am double board certified in consultation-liaison psychiatry and general psychiatry. My primary clinical activities include general hospital psychiatry consultation where I have an expertise in the evaluation and management of psychiatric presentations in the medically ill. I supervise trainees at all levels that rotate through the psychiatry consultation service. My academic interests are in the integration of medical and psychiatric illness, psychopharmacology, ethical issues in medicine and medical education. In my free time, I enjoy hiking around the area.
Associate Program Director
I am a lifetime North Carolinian and attended Wake Forest University for my undergraduate education. I am a Demon Deacon through and through – so much that I even married my high school sweetheart in Wait Chapel on the Wake Forest campus. After medical school, I did my residency training here at Wake Forest, served as Chief Resident during my PGY-4 year, and have continued my academic career as a faculty member. I currently serve in roles as the Outpatient Medical Director as well as Associate Residency Program Director. I have a passion for resident well-being and always strive to be a resource for anyone in our "family". My professional interests include business in medicine, quality improvement, legal and ethical issues, and interviewing techniques. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter, doing anything outside including tending to my garden and animals, crafting, and shopping. I am so excited to meet each prospective resident and learn more about YOU!
Associate Program Director
I am a consultation-liaison psychiatrist and do most of my patient care on the inpatient consult service. My other clinical roles include performing ECT, supervising residents in the geriatric outpatient clinic, and doing integrated psychiatric care with the adult cystic fibrosis team. Prior to Wake Forest, I served eight years as an active-duty army psychiatrist and was stationed at bases in Hawaii, Korea, and Texas. After leaving the Army, I completed fellowship training in consultation-liaison psychiatry at the University of Texas at Austin. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and am glad to work with such outstanding residents and students. My professional interests include academic psychiatry, critical care psychiatry, women's mental health, and ECT. My personal interests include hiking and gardening.
