Residents who graduate from our Wake Forest Psychiatry residency training program will go into practice or go on to complete additional training in competitive subspecialty fellowships such as Addiction, Consultation-Liaison, Forensic, Geriatric, Neuropsychiatry and Sleep Medicine just to name a few.

Residents who are interested in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship (CAP) will fast-track at the beginning of the resident’s fourth year of training. The first year in CAP also count towards the fellow’s fourth year of training in Psychiatry earning them a certificate of completion in Psychiatry and qualified to sit for ABPN boards.

Our program has seen many PGY-4s transfer into Child and Adolescent Psychiatry that there are certain years where the number of fourth year residents is few.

Whether the resident goes into practice or fellowship, our residents leave our program competent to practice and having strong relationships with faculty, staff and each other. Many of our trainees will stay with or return to Wake Forest, or practice within the state of North Carolina.
