Residents in the Wake Forest School of Medicine Department of General Surgery have the opportunity to participate in the Bradshaw Fellowship in honor of Dr. Howard H. Bradshaw, the Chair of Surgery from 1941 to 1968.
Dr. Bradshaw, a key recruit of Dr. Coy Carpenter from Jefferson Medical College, formed a Department of Surgery that embraced the principles of excellence in education, clinical care and research.
The Bradshaw fellow undertakes one to two years of funded research in the medical school. This research experience can include both clinical and basic science research.
