Medical Alumni Association Distinguished Awards

James E. Ferguson, MD ’77, House Staff ’81, MBA 

This award is presented to alumni who have distinguished themselves in the profession of medicine. This individual will have made outstanding contributions through one or more of the following: patient care, basic research, clinical research, or leadership of a state or national organization.

 David C. Pollock, MD ’92, House Staff ’99  

This award is presented to a faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. This individual will have benefited the institution in a significant way through teaching, basic research and clinical research, in addition to the demonstration of the high principles of academic medicine.

 Laura P. West, MD ’81, House Staff ’84 and Carroll A. Pinner III, MD ’71  

This award is presented to alumni or individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, the community and/or the practice of medicine. These individuals through volunteerism, philanthropy or leadership will have benefited the institution in a significant way.

The Student Excellence Award is presented to individuals who, as determined by members of their graduating medical classes, have demonstrated qualities that will enable them to succeed as models of the complete physician — knowledgeable, compassionate and dedicated.
