Submitting an Application
- Submit an application through PASS.
- Current photograph is required, which may be sent separately to the program.
Interview Process
Typically, qualified applicants are offered a personal on-site or virtual interview on one of two days in the fall preceding the program start date of July 1. The interview allows the applicant to experience the Medical Center facilities and gain insight on the residency program.
Applicants may also meet with current residents and faculty.
Acceptance into the Program
Candidates that are offered a residency position will be contacted directly by the Program Director. After signing the contract for the position, new residents are encouraged to start the application process for an intern permit through the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners as soon as possible, as processing time can take up to 90 days. All materials requested on the application should be sent as soon as possible, with the exception of the dental school diploma- the Board understands that this will not be sent until later for new graduates applying for intern permits. Please see licensing requirements for the state of North Carolina below:
License Requirements
A resident not licensed by the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners before beginning the program is required to obtain an intern permit as outlined in the dental laws of North Carolina. Additionally, successfully matched residents of the program must also be U.S. citizens and have graduated from a CODA accredited dental school.
