Karre is a native North Carolinian whose professional journey has been shaped by service, mentorship and a sustained commitment to community engagement. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Lenoir-Rhyne University, ranking first in her class and graduating summa cum laude. As a member of the university’s Biological Sciences Honors Program, she was consistently recognized for academic distinction, leadership and intellectual curiosity.

Following graduation, Karre gained valuable clinical experience as a medical assistant and medical scribe before matriculating to Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Throughout her medical education, she has demonstrated a broad and sustained record of leadership within the medical school community. Karre has held numerous elected and appointed roles, including president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Deacon Delegate, Student Government volunteer coordinator and class representative and secretary on the Honor Council.

Karre has served as a student leader within the Kern National Network and as a mentor for medical students across multiple stages of training through the school’s Dedicated DEACS and Navigating Medical School programs. Additionally, she has contributed to arts- and humanities-based engagement as a service coordinator and co-editor for the OASIS Society and Anthology of Art Service. In 2022, Karre was selected as one of 10 participants in the Maestro Certificate Program, which focuses on medical Spanish language and clinical communication skills to enhance patient interactions and physical examinations.

In the broader community, Karre has played a central role in establishing and strengthening partnerships between Wake Forest University School of Medicine and local organizations, most notably Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Piedmont Triad. Through sustained volunteer leadership and successful grant funding, she has organized initiatives centered on hospitality, wellness, creative expression and family support, while actively engaging fellow medical students in service-oriented work.

Karre’s academic excellence, leadership and service have been recognized with numerous honors and awards. In addition to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received the Peacock-Plonk Award for Outstanding Student Clinician, among other distinctions. She has also been awarded multiple institutional and national scholarships in recognition of her leadership, character and commitment to service.

As a member of the MD Class of 2026, Karre graduated in May and begins residency training in anesthesiology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She remains firmly committed to a model of medicine grounded in compassion, service and community partnership — principles that have guided her development from her earliest experiences through her work as a future physician.
