The Biomarker Analytical Core (BAC) Laboratory performs radioimmunoassays (RIAs) and enzyme-immunoassay (EIAs), and enzymatic assays for clinical and research purposes. The laboratory is certified by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) program. We have participated in NIH-funded, FDA-approved testing and drug-company-sponsored projects.

Services Provided

The laboratory serves as a reference laboratory for Pathology, and conducts measurements for research investigators in the institution and nationally. It also performs radioimmunoassays, enzyme-immunoassay and enzymatic assays for clinical and research purposes.

To renew certification every two years, laboratories must demonstrate proficiency in immunoassays and ensure quality testing. More information about the CLIA program can be found on the FDA website.
