As a part of celebrating your reunion milestone, you are encouraged to join your classmates in providing philanthropic support to the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in a meaningful way. Your gift will be counted in the class giving total, which is measured in two ways: total dollars contributed or pledged and class participation.

There are many ways to support your class effort. Reunion giving recognizes all contributions to Wake Forest University School of Medicine, which includes gifts to the Medical Alumni Association Annual Fund, Class Scholarships, named family scholarships as well as planned gifts and bequests. All gifts in support of medical education are recognized.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where to give and how much?

All gifts to Wake Forest University School of Medicine will count toward your reunion class goal. Our alumni are welcome to support a fund of their choice, including the MAA Annual Fund and an MD endowed class scholarship.

What If I've already given?

If an alumnus has already made a recent gift, the alumnus may reassign that gift to benefit the endowed class scholarship fund initiative. If you or someone in your class would like to reassign the purpose of their gift, please contact the alumni office at 336-716-4589 or AlumniAHWFB@advocatehealth.org.

Does one's reunion gift count toward gift recognition?

Yes. ALL annual gifts of $1,000 or more to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Wake Forest University School of Medicine, are recognized within the Hawthorne Hill Society (HHS). If a gift is designated to benefit our academic mission, the donor will also be recognized within the Dean’s Leadership Circle. Please see below for a list of the annual giving societies by giving level. Gifts to current-use and endowed scholarships are included.

Hawthorne Hill Society Dean's Leadership Circle
Innovator $10,000+ Dean's Order $10,000+
Partner $5,000-$9,999 Dean's Society $5,000-$9,999
Benefactor $2,500-$4,999 Dean's Council $2,500-$4,999
Patron $1,000-$2,499 Dean's Division $1,000-$2,499

What if our class scholarship does not reach the minimum of $50,000 in gifts and/or pledges for an endowed fund?

To reach the minimum threshold of $50,000 in total gifts to establish an endowed scholarship, your classmates may consider making a pledge wherein gifts can be made over time. You may specify your own pledge schedule and donors have up to five years to fulfill their commitments.

If your class does not reach the minimum threshold of $50,000 within five years, the gifts received to date for this initiative would be slated to benefit the MAA Endowed Scholarship Fund.

When will an MD student be named the inaugural recipient of our class scholarship?

Once the gifts received reach the required minimum threshold of $50,000 for an endowed scholarship, the scholarship will be awarded the next fiscal year. Thereafter, each year, the fund will pay out at a rate of 5.3 percent in income for a student scholarship in perpetuity.

Will we be asked again next year?

If you make a pledge commitment, you will receive a pledge reminder based on the schedule that you have specified until your commitment has been fulfilled. You can expect annual updates on the fund from your reunion committee/class agent(s), which will include a reply card to offer you the option to make an additional gift, if you wish.
