Membership in the Comprehensive Cancer Center

The Mission of the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) is to eliminate cancer in the southeast region of the United States, nationally, and internationally through cutting-edge research and treatment, community education and outreach, and transdisciplinary training of next-generation biomedical scientists and healthcare providers.

Becoming a member facilitates collaboration with other cancer-focused researchers throughout the Health System and beyond and provides access CCSG shared resource with member pricing where applicable.

CCC Research Programs

The CCC Research Programs are structured to optimize multidisciplinary and translational research which allows our researchers to take the most promising discoveries from the laboratory into the clinic. Members are considered “unaligned” if their cancer research does not align with these CCC Research Programs:

Principal Investigator on an AH-initiated trial and/or accruing a minimum of 10 individuals to interventional trials annually (or have a significant noninterventional accrual track record) and/or holding a national leadership role within the NCI National Clinical Trials Network (e.g., national Pl chair of study, chair of an NCTN group disease site committee) or any other national trial	✔
Provides critical leadership and/or expertise essential to one or all of the CCC scientific research programs (e.g., Scientific Program Co-Leader, Shared Resource Director, etc.)	✔
Early-stage investigator and/or new CCC recruit holding a career development award (e.g., NCI K award) or has a clear trajectory in obtaining peer-reviewed, cancer-relevant funding within three years	✔
Researchers, clinical investigators, and/or educators who may not yet meet the criteria for scientific membership and are actively engaged in cancer research with a record of cancer-related publications, clinical trial enrollments or site leadership, and non peer-reviewed funding, and may significantly contribute to other Cancer Center missions, including cancer-relevant education, dissemination, and care		✔
Students enrolled in any masters or PhD program, postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows or residents, medical students and undergraduate students who are actively involved in cancer research with a member of the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center			✔

Applications are considered by the CCC Research Leadership Committee (Affiliate or Scientific Members) or CRTEC Leadership (Trainee Members).

Member Expectations

Notify CCCAdmin@wakehealth.edu when grant funding has been awarded.
Maintain NIH publication compliance in accordance with NIH Public Access Policy.
Respond to all member surveys as communicated by the CCC.
Prioritize attendance to program activities and retreats to promote collaboration.
Consult with Shared Resources Leaders regarding equipment needs required for a grant proposal prior to submission.
Cite the P30 (see below).
Renew CITI Certification before the deadline.

If your publication has already been submitted without citing the P30 and has a PMCID number, you can link the pub to the P30 grant in your MyNCBI after the fact. If it does not have a PMCID, it can be submitted for one and then you can link the P30.
