Meredith Adams, MD, MS, associate professor of anesthesiology and translational neuroscience, was recently named a Woman in Health IT to Know by Becker’s Hospital Review.
This recognition honors 141+ females who are working to shape and enhance the future of healthcare through health IT.
Adams is the chair of the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) Initiative at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. The NIH HEAL Initiative is an effort to speed scientific solutions to stem the national opioid public health crisis.
She oversees a portfolio exceeding $27 million – indicative of her groundbreaking contributions to the field. Through her innovative work, she is revolutionizing healthcare delivery, leveraging pioneering technologies to enhance patient care and address disparities in treatment outcomes. Beyond research roles, she has several other leadership roles, including sitting on boards that improve anesthesia and healthcare outcomes for all populations. She is dedicated to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion.
