About Me
I am an assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and the associate program director for the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship. I am a team physician for Wake Forest University Athletics, with a focus on football and basketball. Additionally, I am an adjunct team physician for Winston-Salem State University.
As a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, I focus on surgical and non-surgical sports medicine, adolescent sports medicine and arthroscopic surgeries of the shoulders and knees, with additional areas of interest around the ankle, elbow and hip.
My advanced training is in tendon repairs, ligament reconstructions, shoulder and knee instability, cartilage restoration surgeries and meniscus tear treatment. I have additional expertise in shoulder replacements and the management of shoulder fractures. Finally, I offer endoscopic treatment options for hamstring injuries, an innovative and minimally invasive solution. I also provide image-guided injections and promote non-operative management of injuries when possible.
My research interests include anatomy, arthroscopy, biomechanics, sports injuries and optimization of surgical techniques and outcomes in musculoskeletal care. I have remained active in research throughout my career and have co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications. I serve on the editorial board for the Arthroscopy Journal and teach fellowship courses through the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).
I received my engineering degree at the University of Pennsylvania and medical degree at Stony Brook University. I completed residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Southern California, where I was an administrative chief resident. I also completed a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine and shoulder surgery with Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush University, where I assisted in the care of the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Steel and DePaul University.
