About Me

Dr. Richardson is an associate professor of cardiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He is a core faculty member for the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship program and associate program director for the Internal Medicine Residency program. He is the director of the Cardiac Ultrasound and Stress Testing Laboratory at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Dr. Richardson is board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. He focuses on general cardiology and valvular heart disease. In his clinical practice, he treats hyperlipidemia, high blood pressure, peripheral artery disease, arteriosclerosis, coronary disease and angina, congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathies. Dr. Richardson also treats valvular diseases, such as aortic stenosis and mitral regurgitation as well as arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation.

His academic interests include medical education, echocardiography and procedural imaging for complex valvular and structural heart diseases. He is affiliated with the Office of Global Health and is the faculty lead for the Internal Medicine Residency Global Health Pathway.

He joined the faculty at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in 2016 and has since completed the Medical Education Certificate Program (MECP). Dr. Richardson completed his undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University. He received his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed residency in internal medicine. Dr. Richardson completed a fellowship in cardiology with a focus on echocardiography at Vanderbilt University.
