About Me

I am the Chief Medical Officer at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center in High Point NC where I oversee patient safety and quality, provider experience and care models and several service lines. I recently served as the Chief Medical Officer at Duke Regional Hospital. I have held a variety of roles over the span of my career including overseeing quality and safety, physician and APP practices, case management and resident education. I have also served as the service line executive for both heart/vascular services and oncology. Prior to my two Chief Medical Officer roles, I was the practice medical director for hospital medicine at Duke Raleigh Hospital and previously served as the medical director of the Duke Health Transfer Center. Throughout my time as a physician leader, I have maintained a clinical practice, remain an Associate Professor and have taught residents, medical students and PA students. I have also served as a lecturer for both medical student and faculty courses on leadership both locally and nationally. I previously served as the Associate Program Director for Duke Health’s administrative fellowship for resident physicians, the Management and Leadership Program for Residents (MLPR).

With a background in internal medicine and healthcare administration, I earned my medical degree from UNC School of Medicine and a Master's in Healthcare Administration from UNC Gillings School of Public Health. I completed my residency and administrative fellowship at Duke University Hospital. I have been recognized for contributions including being chosen as a "40 under 40" winner by the Triangle Business Journal in 2019, was a 2023 Carol Emmott Fellow and was recently named one of the top 10 Chief Medical Officers in the country by MedTech Magazine in 2023. I actively engage with the health care community, serving on the NC Hospital Association's (NCHA) Physician Advisory Board and NCHA Foundation Board, and previously serving on board of Central Carolina Hospital. I am the chair of the Society of Hospital Medicine National Practice Management Committee and serve on the American Hospital Association’s Committee on Clinical Leadership.

I am a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, National Association of Healthcare Executives and the Society of Hospital Medicine.
