About Me
I am an associate professor of biochemistry at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
My work focuses on mechanisms and therapeutic strategies for inherited retinal diseases, such as Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA), retinitis pigmentosa and Stargardt’s disease. These retinal diseases are linked to structural changes in visual cycle proteins.
Most of my work during the last 20 years has been devoted to studies of the visual cycle and retinoid metabolism.
I received degrees at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and at Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology, both in Moscow, Russia.
