About Me

I am an Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine, Section on Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine. In 2015, I received my PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Pathobiology and Molecular Medicine. I completed my postdoctoral training (2015-2021) under the mentorship of Drs. David Marcinek (T32) and Anthony Molina at the University of Washington and Wake Forest University School of Medicine studying exercise physiology, energetics, and oxidative stress.

A former Claude D. Pepper Scholar, I now serve as the Co-leader of the Pepper Center’s Integrative Biology Core where I oversee the Center’s Biorepository and Biomarker studies. In 2021, I created the Core for Cellular Respirometry and serve as its director.

I have 35+ peer-reviewed publications in the area of mitochondrial bioenergetics and oxidative stress, and my lab aims to apply these and other research interests toward improving age-related declines in metabolism.
