About Me

I serve as the Section Head, Pediatric Dialysis Director, and Fellowship Director for Pediatric Nephrology at Wake Forest Brenner Children’s Hospital. As a pediatric nephrologist, health services researcher, and clinical informaticist, I lead a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth care, including renal transplantation and advanced dialysis therapies.

My career follows 26 years of active-duty service as a Navy medical officer. I held several leadership roles within the Military Health System, including Executive Director of the Defense Health Board and Chair of the Complex Pediatrics Clinical Community for the Defense Health Agency. In these capacities, I advised on pediatric health outcomes and directed policy recommendations on critical issues ranging from mental health access to racial and ethnic healthcare disparities.

I am a Professor of Pediatrics at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and maintain adjunct professorships at the Uniformed Services University. My research utilizes my background in epidemiology to study childhood kidney disease, health care transitions, and the impact of universal healthcare on health equity. I authored over 35 peer-reviewed articles and remain deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of clinicians and researchers through experiential teaching.
