About Me

My work focuses primarily on the transmission dynamics of human pathogens, the epidemiology of antibiotic resistant organisms such as Vancomycin-resistant enterococci and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and the modification of preventive practices of healthcare providers.

Due to the H1N1 Influenza pandemic, current projects focus on the efficacy of barrier precautions such as face masks against the airborne spread of respiratory viruses in healthcare workers. This includes the assessment of viral dispersal in patients affected by these viruses, the development of novel aerosolization techniques, and the testing of available and newly developed barrier precautions.

The work is supported by the CDC and by the Center for Worker Health.
