Application Process

Those interested in pursuing the MD program are required to apply through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS), the American Association of Medical Colleges’ (AAMC’s) centralized medical school application processing service. Only applications that are verified by AMCAS are processed by the Office of Admissions.

Early Assurance Program

Well-qualified Wake Forest University undergraduates, upon completion of their sophomore year, may apply for early acceptance to the Wake Forest University School of Medicine through the Early Assurance Program (EAP). Although the student still does not enter Wake Forest University School of Medicine until after the senior year, this gives them the opportunity to know that they have been accepted a year earlier. Wake Forest University undergraduates applying through the EAP program must go through the Pre-Health Committee at Wake Forest University and request pre-approval from Wake Forest University School of Medicine to apply through AMCAS.

Early Decision Program

Application for Early Decision can be made through AMCAS from June 1 to August 1. The latest MCAT date considered for Early Decision applicants is July 13, 2024, and the last considered CASPer test for Early Decision applicants is July 31, 2024.  If these requirements cannot be completed by the stated deadline, contact us and we will move your application to our regular applicant pool and immediately allow you to apply to other medical schools.

Early Decision offers of acceptance are made by October 1.

The Early Decision Program gives medical school applicants the opportunity to secure an acceptance from one EDP-participating medical school by October 1, while still allowing sufficient time to apply to other schools if you are not accepted. Wake Forest University School of Medicine participates in the AAMC Early Decision Program. For more information, please visit the AAMC's website.
