Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. We are proud to work at the Brenner Children’s Hospital and the comprehensive outpatient facilities, all of which accelerate with the Levine Children’s Service Line.
We are a department dedicated to the tripartite academic missions: patient care, education, and research but additionally add advocacy as a central goal. These core values serve as inspiration for our diverse faculty, staff, medical students, residents and fellows. At our core, we provide highly specialized primary and subspecialty care, serving our community and inspiring families towards improved health.
In addition to delivering outstanding quaternary clinical care for all children, our residency program, fellowships and clerkship experiences are the foundation of our department. Our faculty value education, and in fact many within our department hold leadership roles within the School of Medicine, exemplifying our dedication. Universally, we choose to be academic pediatricians because we are all committed to exciting the next generation of learners to also become pediatricians.
We also, as faculty, perform cutting edge research from mechanistic models of intergenerational outcomes to social drivers of health to disease-specific in-depth analyses. Over the past year, we have accelerated our research through an infusion of Atrium support, leading to an almost doubling of extramural support. Through research mentorship and peer support, we continue to surpass benchmarks in investigator-driven ideas.
Dedicated to the institutional commitment to an academic Learning Health System, our Department of Pediatrics at Wake Forest values family, believes children deserve the highest quality of care close to home, and want to inspire the next generation of health adults. Perhaps most importantly, the Department is committed to fostering an academic environment that embraces diversity, eliminates healthcare disparities and treats patients with the utmost respect and dignity.
I encourage you to explore our website and to know our faculty, trainees and staff and the resources that are aligned to support each of our missions.
