Cynthia Emory, MD, MBA, Named Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation

It is our pleasure to announce that Cynthia Emory, MD, MBA, FAAOS, FAOA, Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, has been named Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation effective April 1. She succeeds L. Andrew Koman, MD, who has led the department since 2007. Cynthia will also assume leadership of the Musculoskeletal Service Line for the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist market on July 1, and Andy will continue to serve as a tenured professor in Orthopaedic Surgery. Nth Dimensions Summer Internship Program

This summer, the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Health was honored to host two visiting medical students through the 2019 Nth Dimensions Summer Internship Program. Nth Dimensions is an educational non-profit founded by surgeons to address the dearth of women and underrepresented minorities in medicine. Perry Initiative

Wake Forest Baptist Health faculty and staff participated in The Perry Initiativea national program designed to inspire young women to consider careers in orthopaedic surgery and engineering and to provide mentorship from women surgeons and engineers.
