Kate Sauder, PhD, is Multiple Principal Investigator of NDPP-NextGen. She is an Associate Professor of Implementation Science and Pediatrics. Dr. Sauder became interested in health before and during pregnancy when her peers started getting pregnant and asking questions about healthy eating, gestational diabetes, and weight gain in pregnancy. Dr. Sauder reached out to Dr. Natalie Ritchie, researcher and former director of a National Diabetes Prevention Program in Denver, Colorado, to understand how well the NDPP engages and supports young women. Together, they have published 15+ papers on the NDPP’s impact, including among young women, and obtained funding from the National Institutes of Health to formally test the NDPP’s potential to promote maternal/child health before pregnancy. Dr. Sauder is excited to learn if this widely available program can be slightly modified to better help young women and their future offspring.
