Working with our international colleagues, we seek to address global health issues that negatively impact the health and quality of life among people living in low- and middle-income countries.
In the Department of Implementation Science, our researchers are conducting the following studies on global health:
Enhancing HIV prevention and reducing alcohol use among people receiving STI care in Malawi: An HIV status neutral approach (R34 AA030939; NIAAA)
This study seeks to develop and evaluate TrEAT4All, a culturally adapted, scalable intervention designed to improve HIV prevention and treatment outcomes, focusing on alcohol reduction and PrEP implementation, through a pilot randomized controlled trial at an STI care clinic in Lilongwe, Malawi. Central Africa International Epidemiology databases to Evaluate AIDS
Central Africa International Epidemiology Databases to Evaluate AIDS (CA-IeDEA) aims to improve health outcomes of individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The CA-IeDEA cohort involves partners in five countries: Burundi, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of Congo, and Rwanda. CA-IeDEA utilizes implementation science to identify and address high-priority HIV/AIDS research questions and to identify effective strategies for optimizing HIV care outcomes, including timely diagnosis and care enrollment, care retention, ART initiation and viral suppression.
