This session spotlighted maternal and pediatric health research led by the Center for Child and Family Research. A panel of scientists and clinicians from the Advocate Health Illinois Division shared how their work is transforming science and clinical practice to improve health outcomes for mothers and babies.

Highlights included Dr. Taylor’s research on molecular subtyping of preeclampsia and its potential to support targeted prediction and treatment, as well as Dr. Harrison’s insights into how preterm preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction influence neonatal outcomes.

On the pediatric side, Dr. Fitzpatrick discussed the real-world impact of well-child visit adherence, while Dr. Marsh presented emerging strategies for optimizing imaging following childhood urinary tract infections.

The session provided attendees with an opportunity to explore the future of maternal and pediatric care at Advocate Health and showcased how research and discovery continue to drive meaningful advances in patient care.

The overall goal of her research is to quickly and effectively translate research findings into clinical care while still being responsive and respectful to the patients and communities the system serves. Dr. Fitzpatrick’s research is largely in the perinatal and early pediatric space using both Human Centered Design and Implementation Science methodologies to maximize successful uptake of interventions. Current and past projects explore prenatal and pediatric healthcare delivery, low-income prenatal patient care adherence, mother-baby dyad linkages, and costs related to high burden care plans.
