About Me

I am Dr. Tinisha Lambeth and am passionate about nursing and the transformative power of education. With over 28 years of experience in nursing, my journey has been one of continuous learning and growth.  My journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, where I developed essential nursing skills, next a Master of Science in Nursing degree with a certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP), and finally a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Duke University School of Nursing.  The advanced degrees not only equipped me with essential nurse practitioner skills but also ignited my desire to contribute to the nursing profession in a meaningful way.

As an NNP, my passion was to provide quality care to our neonates, collaborating closely with neonatologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes. My responsibilities encompassed conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, performing procedures, educating families, and managing infants in the delivery room.  My early career is a testament to my dedication to advancing neonatal nursing practice through education, evidence-based practice (EBP), quality improvement (QI), and advocacy.

As a DNP professor, my mission is to inspire and empower the next generation of nursing leaders. I have held various academic positions, including Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Academic Nursing and now the Director of the DNP Program.  These positions have allowed me to mentor NNP students, residents, and fellows in many QI, and EBP initiatives with improved patient outcomes.  My teaching philosophy is learner-centered teaching where the focus is shifted to the needs of my scholars.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I enjoy traveling, philately, writing letters/postcards to pen friends all over the world, reading, taking nature walks, gardening, and watching movies.  These activities provide me with a holistic perspective and a deep appreciation for work-life balance.

In conclusion, I am a dedicated DNP professor who is committed to advancing nursing education and practice. My journey is one of lifelong learning, mentorship, and a passion for improving healthcare. I look forward to continuing to shape the future of nursing through education, EBP, and QI initiatives.
