I am a molecular geneticist with an interest in understanding the genetic architecture of complex diseases and underlying risk factors in minority populations. My research focuses broadly on metabolic disease, with ongoing studies in the areas of diabetes, obesity, liver disease, nephropathy, cognition and cardiovascular disease.
Allred Lab - Integrating a wide-range of genetic, metabolomic and bioinformatic approaches to understand disease pathophysiology. In an effort to provide broader context to the research findings, I am involved in several large meta-analysis consortia, including Genetics Underlying Diabetes in Hispanics (GUARDIAN), Genetics of Obesity-associated Liver Disease (GOLD) and the Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed) Program.
