The Graduate School Office on the School of Medicine campus welcomes non-degree seeking students, who perceive value in enrolling in coursework while not currently seeking a degree in one of its biomedical graduate programs, to participate in our coursework. Our registration practices for unclassified students are described below.

    1. Review the course schedule for your desired course registration and the academic calendar for the term start and end dates. The current course schedule may be obtained by emailing Student Records.
    2. Obtain permission from the course director to enroll in the course as an unclassified, non-degree seeking, student. Once Student Records has received confirmation from the course director, you will receive notice that you will be allowed to enroll for the next term.

      Steps 3, 4, and 5 only need to be completed the first time an individual seeks to enroll in a biomedical graduate program course.

    3. Complete an unclassified application form and return it to the Student Records office along with a non-refundable application fee of $100. A check or money order should be made payable to Wake Forest School of Medicine. Faculty and postdoctoral fellows of Wake Forest School of Medicine are not charged the application fee.
    4. Request that an official transcript (with degree conferral noted) from your undergraduate or graduate school’s registrar’s office be sent to: Studentrecords@wakehealth.edu

    5. Prior to attending in-person class meetings, unclassified students are required to meet the School of Medicine’s immunization requirements. In order to meet this requirement, the following forms should be downloaded, completed in their entirety, and returned to Employee Health.
    6. Prepare a check, payable to the Wake Forest School of Medicine with “Graduate School Tuition” in the Memo field, in the appropriate amount based on your desired registration. Payment should be made prior to the first day of class. Your amount due can be calculated using the “per credit hour” rate or “audit” rate as appropriate, found on the Costs and Financial Aid page.

Employees of Wake Forest Baptist Health and Wake Forest School of Medicine who wish to have their tuition charged to a grant or departmental fund should contact the Bursar and provide the necessary chartfield to avoid the tuition fee appearing on their student account.
