About Me
I joined the Wake Forest University School of Medicine as professor and department chair of academic nursing in April 2024. My academic leadership journey began as the inaugural director of the Marquette University nurse anesthesia educational program and continued as interim director of the Duke University School of Nursing nurse anesthesia educational program.
I’ve held several national leadership roles, including serving as the Chief Practice Officer and Senior Director of Professional Practice for the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, where I oversaw all aspects of certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) scope and standards of practice nationwide. I also served as the Chief Credentialing Officer and the Chief Compliance and Innovation Officer for the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists, where I developed and managed certification programs for all CRNAs and ensured program accreditation compliance.
My background includes extensive collaboration with federal and state regulatory agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the US Food and Drug Administration, and numerous state boards of nursing. I’ve also worked closely with third-party healthcare and academic accreditors like The Joint Commission and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and held leadership positions with performance improvement organizations such as the National Quality Forum.
