About Me

I’m an internationally recognized primary care physician and healthcare executive, currently serving as President of the Advocate National Center for Clinical & Community Impact (CCI) and Senior Vice President of Advocate Health. I also hold a faculty appointment as Professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Previously, I was the inaugural Chief Health Equity Officer & SVP at Humana and have held leadership roles as Chair & Professor of the Department of Family & Community Medicine at The Ohio State University, Director of the Center for Excellence in Primary Care at University of California, San Francisco, Chief Clinical Transformation Officer at RubiconMD, and Chief Medical Officer of Community Health Center, Inc. I’m board-certified in Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, with a passion for improving inequitable care and health outcomes, transforming primary care, and using technology to improve access.

I completed my MPH, Commonwealth Fund Fellowship, and my Credential of Readiness Business Certificate at Harvard, my MD and undergraduate degrees from The Ohio State University, and my residency at Columbia University. I was inducted into the National Academy of Medicine in 2022 and have authored four books and numerous scientific articles.

Beyond my professional work, I’m a global health transformation consultant and an advocate for women and girls internationally. I enjoy traveling, reading novels, gardening, sports, and music. I’m married with two children and actively involved in my community, several nonprofits, philanthropic work, and my sorority.
