About Me

I am a Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and a part time Physician Investigator at the Kernersville VA Medical Center. I serve as Director of the Wake Forest Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the Center on Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, and the NIH-funded North Carolina Diabetes Research Center, the latter in partnership with UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, and NC A&T. My research includes basic and clinical studies of Type 2 Diabetes pathogenesis, with an emphasis on the role of iron in that disease.
