About Me

I am a professor of surgical sciences and oncology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and the director of the Breast Care Center at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.

As a board-certified general surgeon with a focus on surgical oncology, I specialize in benign and malignant breast diseases. Conditions I treat include hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndromes, fibroadenomas and abnormal mammograms. I perform sentinel lymph node mapping, port placements, lumpectomies, mastectomies and other breast cancer surgeries.

My research interests include breast neoplasms, disparity research, genetic testing, lobular carcinomas and papillary carcinomas. I am interested in women's health issues, understanding how cancer affects individuals and stopping its progress.

I am affiliated with the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity and the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. I hold memberships in the Southern Surgical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Southeastern Surgical Congress.

I received my medical degree at Harvard University and completed residencies in general surgery at Emory University and West Virginia University. I then completed a fellowship in breast surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital.
