About Me

I am a board-certified, fellowship-trained cardiothoracic surgeon, and a transplant surgeon. I am Professor and Chief, Cardiothoracic Transplantation, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Wake Forest University School of Medicine. I hold both MD and PhD in cardiac electrophysiology from the Israeli Technion.

I am also the Director, Thoracic Transplantation, Southeast Region, Advocate Health and a Professor in the Wake Forest institute for regenerative medicine (WFIRM) as well as an IRCAD HF/TX officer.

I am a nationally recognized surgeon, innovator, researcher, and educator in cardiothoracic surgery. I focus on low EF CABG, complex mitral and aortic valve repair, thoracic aortic surgery, heart and lung transplantation, ECMO, and mechanical circulatory support. I have been awarded numerous prizes and scholarships and, for the last 4 years, was elected on Israel best surgeons list.

As a physician-scientist, I have co-authored more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has served as a reviewer for many of them. I serve on the board of directors of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery and others, and I am the associate editor of the Journal of heart and lung transplant, open. In addition, I served as the editor for the "Textbook of Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support for End Stage Heart and Lung Disease", a two-volume comprehensive textbook published by Wiley and featuring authors from all over the world covering every aspect of the field.

I am a member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant (ISHLT).
